Springfield, VA — Even though the VSCF&S Springfield crew recently completed a contract exceeding $2.2 million for fire protection installation with Lend Lease at the newly named and newly expanded Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA, work certainly did not slow down. In fact, VSCF&S fire protection installation projects for northern Virginia and Washington, DC area health care facilities are booming. Here is a snapshot of recent projects for the Springfield office:

The VSCF&S crew is currently working with Kranz and Turner Construction to provide a $750,000 fire sprinkler installation for the new home of MedStar Heart Institute inside the renovated 200,000-square-foot north wing of MedStar Washington Hospital Center. The $33 million heart institute will consolidate all existing cardiology clinics and inpatient units and modernize inpatient rooms.

VSCF&S is also performing multi-million dollar fire protection system installations with Clark Construction and HITT Contracting at the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus. Inova Fairfax is undergoing an $850 million expansion to upgrade the campus to offer more private rooms in a world-class environment for patient care, education and research. VSCF&S is installing systems in the new 12-story tower for the Inova Women’s Hospital and Children’s Hospital as well as the parking garage and the North Tower renovation. Inova Women’s Hospital will include 192 private patient rooms and a dedicated women’s surgery center with 8 operating rooms and 33 labor delivery and recovery suites. Inova Children’s Hospital will include 116 private pediatric patient rooms.

VSCF&S Springfield is the selected contractor for both the Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) and Inova, a not-for-profit health care system with five hospitals located in the Washington, D.C. metro area, serving over two million people annually with over 1,700 licensed beds and 16,000 employees. In fact for more than 25 years, the Springfield VSCF&S team has been involved in numerous renovation and expansion projects, as well as maintenance and inspection services for CNMC and Inova.

And finally, Springfield’s VSCF&S team is executing more than $1 million in new health care construction fire sprinkler installations with Brasfield & Gorrie, General Contractors. The includes renovation work at the Cancer Center at Lake Manassas in Gainesville, VA and the new StoneSprings Hospital Center and medical office building in Loudoun County, VA. The new StoneSprings Hospital Center is a $147 million, 230,000-square-foot facility providing comprehensive inpatient, outpatient, surgical, and diagnostic services.
